What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 11 Apr 2016
Question: Hi I have had elevated GGT value in liver function test since 2013. LFT Test done in April -2014 showed GGT of 161 with other liver enzymes high too. My Gastro asked me to get Ultrasound of abdomen , HbsAg and Anti HCV . All these tests showed nothing (Reports attached) . A repeat LFT done on 19th Aug 2014 showed levels going back to normal. Again a routine test done on 27th XXXXXXX 2016 showed elevated GGT.
Please advise if I need to get an ultrasound again or I need to go for Biopsy. I am slightly overweight refer PATH REPORTS_1st_Jan_2016.pdf for other details. I don't drink or smoke . I am not on any medication.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for considering my case.
All these tests were done as part of regular annual health check up.
My symptoms are brain fog , general fatigue , blurred vision difficulty concentrating and frequent stomach issues.
I don't have any medical illness diagnosed as such.
I am not on any medication.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.

Isolated increase in GGT occurs after alcohol intake or if you are on certain medications.
From your other conversations, I can make out you do not drink alcohol.
Also you are not on any medication.
I would just ignore it.

You are negative for hepaitis B and C.
You can repeat the LFT after 6 months.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thanks doctor do you think I should get some heart related tests to be sure . I am asking as I do feel a lot dizzy while standing from sitting position. Also is there a definite test to asses liver health apart from LFT.

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If you feel dizzy while standing, you can get evaluated by your physician.
LFT and ultrasound abdomen are good enough to assess the liver health.
