Question : We had got some tests done for our daughter as we suspected that she may be low in vitamin D as we suspected some curve in one of her legs. However, while vitamin D and calcium levels have come fine, the report shows low transferrin saturation of 13.78. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Iron supplements can be given

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

Transferrin is a iron transporter. Although the iron as well as iron binding capacity is normal a slightly decreased transferrin level indicates some latent iron deficiency. You may give her some iron supplements to compensate for the same.

Brief Answer:
Orofer XT can be given

Detailed Answer:
You can give Orofer XT Drops 1 ml once daily for a month or so. Any iron preparation can make constipation worse. Make sure that she drinks plenty of water as well.
