Question : I have a question. I would like to know how much damage I did to my heart and arteries already at 29 years old. From 19 to 26 i amoked almost half a pack of day of cigarettes. from 26 to 29 i are fast food twice a day. I cut all those habits out in for the last while I have been working out and eating healthy. I can maintain a 88% XXXXXXX heart rate for the full hour in my cardio class.

I just want to know if i should be super worried. I stopped and caught myself early while I'm still young. I know I'm over worrying on this because people eat junk in don't work out their entire lives but I just wanted to know if my OK if I start now at 29

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that as long as you have cut of those bad habits, there is nothing to worry about.

You are young and the damage is not really significant, as long as you will follow a healthy lifestyle now and on.

I would just recommend check your blood lipid profile every 6 months, just to make the right modifications to your diet.

Performing a lot of physical activity (walking, jogging, yoga, aerobics, recreational sports, etc.) is also necessary for a healthy body and mind and for a long life too.

It is never too late! But in your case, it is just the right time to start living healthy.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
