What Does My Lung Radiography Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Aug 2016
Question: Hello, Doctor. How fast can a "small spot, cannot rule out cancer" on a lung radiograph metastasize to stage IV in the liver? In other words, I'm looking for your best guess as to the shortest interval between discovery and Stage IV with no attention in between.

Brief Answer:
difficult to predict because of variation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Lung cancers are usually very aggressive but not all lung cancers are the same. Some small nodules grow very slowly over years. On the other hand, we have seen patients where progression to metastases happened in 4-5 months.

So, in an individual patient, it's really hard to guess.

Hope this helps.
Regards
