Question : IRespected Dr. My wife aged 62yr has undergone pap smear test and interpretation is DENSE ACUTE INFLAMATORY INFILTRATE PRESENT,Advised repeat smear after treatment, pl clear .S K XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
cervical erosions
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
Dense cute inflammatory infiltrate indicates a cervical erosion of secondary cervical infection which can be treated with a course of antibiotics especially DOXYCYCLINE AND tinidazole for 14 days.
It doesn't show atypical cells so the fear of it being and early cervical cancer is ruled out.
A repeat pap smear after the treatment is the right course of action.
