What Does My Sonosalpingography Test Report Indicate?

Question: I have undergone ssg test. The result are bilateral patent tubes but delayed spill present (right>left) bilateral ovaries normal, cavity normal.
Right tube: seen, delayed spill after repeated pushing
Left tube: seen, delayed spill
Right ovary: normal
Left ovary: normal
Uterine cavity: normal

Are my tubes open and can i go for iui?

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The uterus and ovaries are normal and this is a positive finding.

2. The fallopian tubes show delayed spill and the right tube required effort to demonstrate the spill.

3. In the above test the patency of the tubes is confirmed, the delayed spill can be because of temporary spasm of the muscles in the wall of tubes. There might have been a temporary block in the right tube and the pushing probably opened it up.

In conclusion, the tubes are open and you can discuss IUI with your doctor if ovulation is occurring as seen on follicle monitoring scan. In IUI the sperm are separated from semen and inserted in uterine cavity.

Thank u dr for replying. I also wanted to know whats the difference between hsg and ssg? Which is more accurate? Why did dr suggested ssg instead of hsg.

1. HSG is hysterosalpingpography and a technique by which the uterus and tubes are seen using x ray after injecting contrast in the uterus and looking for spill.

2. SSG is sonosalpingography and is a technique to evaluate the uterus and tubes by using ultrasound scan machine. This shows more detail about ovaries and is accurate in experienced hands.

3. SSG does not involve radiation therefore it is better for young women like you. Also SSG gives additional information and shows higher magnification of uterus and tubes. Your doctor has taken a good decision.
