Question : Hello - my mother is 56 years old. As part of annual routine exam, we did the thyroid function test also and determined her T3, T4 and TSH levels are slightly off. Could you please take a look and advise?

She has had issues earlier with thyroid (slight swelling in her throat), but this has existed for several years and were advised to not do anything about it.

But wondering if we need to start any specific treatment for this.

I have attached the report for your perusal,

Brief Answer:
Report suggestive of overactive thyroid.

Detailed Answer:
dear xxxxxxxxxxx, hi! welcome to HCM. I am Dr. Minal. I have gone through the reports of your mother. Thyroid profile is a little disturbed and vitamin D is low. For vitamin D , she needs supplementation. For overactive thyroid, it can be just a viral infection i.e. thyroiditis, or as you told there has been a nodule, may be it has turned toxic. or it can be Graves' disease.
So, what I am trying to tell you is that thyroid dysfunction needs further evaluation. Your mother needs nuclear scan of thyroid to see what is going on inside the gland.
regards!
