Question : I took T3 to help with weight loss. Now my blood test shows controdicting levels. My tsh is .36 my total t4 is .9 and my free t4 is .4. . Could this be due to me taking extra t3 medication?

Hello and thanks for the query,

This result is likely due to suppression of thyroid function due to taking the extra T3. I would suggest you work with your doctor to decide how to taper your dose down and ultimately discontinue this medication.

Taking excess thyroid hormone is not a good way to lose weight and may in fact be dangerous.

Please contact your doctor to work on this. He might suggest a repeat thyroid panel in 6-8 weeks to include TSH, total T3, free T4.
