Question : Got my thyroid profile done. T4 and tsh normal but high t3. What are the possible conditions
Brief Answer:
Lab error or early hyperthyroidism
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.
T3 values can be abnormally low or high in some lab reports as T3 is seen only in small quantities in blood. Lab error is common in T3 measurements.
If it is not lab error only explanation is early hyperthyroidism or T3 thyrotoxicosis. Here thyroid hormone production just started increasing and T3 is the first hormone to increase. T4 increases later and then TSH decreases.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
