What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Question : On July 3 2015, my ultrasound says I am 8 week1 day. My First day for the last period is April 24, 2015. My due date is Feb 11, 2016. I was told that my conception date is near May 20, 2015. However, I always ovulated on the 17th day after my first day of the period (April 24) being may 10, which is the date I have unprotected sex. And on May 13 - may 16, I have little blood came out during these days and the ovaluation kit showed that I just ovulated. Also, my first blood test on XXXXXXX 9 shows that I was pregnant with 4 weeks, being the week of May 10 - may 16. So If My suggested conception date is May 20 ( I also have unprotexted sex on May 17)and could be backdated for 5-6 days, does it mean that I can be conceived on May 14? date? thanks doc!

Welcome to healthcare Magic.

I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
Do not depend on hormone values to calculate the pregnancy age, as there is a wide variation in their values.

Second thing you need to know is that there can be a variation of about 3 days
(+ or -) in pregnancy age with ultrasound age in the first trimester.
Repeat the ultrasound to make sure of pregnancy age.

From the ultrasound report it appears that you ovulated near May 20 ( Between may 17 to May 23).

Hi Doc,

However for my first ultrasound test I did on XXXXXXX 17, I was told I was at my 5 weeks, being the week of May 10-16. I was surprised that my ovaluation happened on May 20 because it has way passed my normal ovaluation time and I only have unprotexted sex on May 17. So would that be a chance that I am
Conceived on may 14, given that there is Margin of errors of +/-6 days from the conception date of May 20? Many thanks!

Welcome back.

If by ultrasound on XXXXXXX 17 you are 5 weeks giving a margin of error of 3-5 days the conception date falls near May 20 ( week 5 is XXXXXXX 17, week 4 is XXXXXXX 10, week 3 is XXXXXXX 3 and week 2 i.e., the conception week near May 27). Just calculate again and see.
This second ultrasound is more reliable than the first ultrasound.

Hi doc

My family doc confirmed the XXXXXXX 9 blood test with me that I was 4 week pregnant and so I would be conceived in the week of May 10. Also when I went to see a doc on May 19, he confirmed that I have already passed my ovaluation. If I am to conceived on May 27, but the last time I have sex was May 17. Would it be possible? I am very confused... Thank you doc

As I mentioned before blood test cannot say the pregnancy age accurately. There is a wide range in the hormone levels.

There is a ultrasound machinery error of about 5 days in calculations.

As mentioned before the second ultrasound done at8 weeks is more reliable than the first ultrasound . On May 19 on what basis your doctor said that ovulation has already occurred .
You have ovulated near May 20
