Question : My last menstral period started Nov 12, 2015. So I suspect I am current about 6 weeks pregnant. I have two instances of bleeding over the past week. My hcg levers were tested 2 4 and 6 days apart last week and measures 2000, 5000 then 12000. I was then sent for an ultrasound yesterday. I want told it was not good news. I have a large subchorinic bleed and no fetal heart rate was detected. They could only see a gestational plate? I not sure what that is. I was told 98 percent change I wil miscarry. If no bleeding over the next week I go for another ultra sound. I guess I'm just wondering if there is any hope for this pregnancy at all. Or am I just waiting to miscarry?

Brief Answer:
Miscarriage is highly likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
At 6 weeks gestation if there were no detectable fetal poles or yolk sac on an ultrasound scan then the chances of having a viable pregnancy are almost negligible. The presence of large subchorionic bleed will further cause separation of the sac from the uterus.
Even if you take all the precautions and necessary medicines, the chances of continuation of this pregnancy are almost nil.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

They did see the yolk sac and what they thought was the fetal pole. But when they scanned furher there was just no heart beat and he said there should be already I guess . I have all the symptoms of being pregnant as well which makes just waiting to see a bit difficult. Thank you for your response. T

Brief Answer:
If yolk sac was regular then heart beat may appear later.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If they saw a regular yolk sac and the HCG levels are still rising after the ultrasound scan then the chances of a viable pregnancy are there. Usually the heart beat is visible by 6 weeks. It is best to wait and get a repeat scan done as suggested.
Hope my answer is helpful.
