Brief Answer:
Its likely a clump of blood vessels called hemangima

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

The ultrasound report shows that there is a likely hemangioma in the liver. This is an area of abnormal clump of blood vessels. A triple phase CT scan confirms it. If confirmed then this is the commonest benign liver tumor.

There is also a gall bladder stone. This might require surgery if it is causing symptoms.

Hope your query is answered.

my worry is that its something worse. can a hemangioma be something worse like a tumor or would the ultrasound have detected that. i dont want the cancer concern to be an issue. sorry im just scared. also does the hemangioma have to be removed. because her liver levels are elevated which i think are from the gallstones but im booking in her operation regardless to get them removed tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
Please confirm hemangioma by triple phase CT scan abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.

Hemangioma liver is a common condition and ultrasound findings are helpful to suspect one. However triple phase CT scan abdomen is more reliable to confirm the condition. Hemangioma if confirmed on ulrasound then does not require any treatment if it is small as mentioned. Follow up ultrasound can be done in 6 months to a year.

The gallstone requires to be removed by surgery.

Brief Answer:
Please send the image if you have any

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

With a size 2.5 x 1.9 x 2.3 cm, a lesion in the liver can be suspected to be a hemangioma from its appearance and since it is not showing vascularity.

To be hones with you, sinisters can always exist. Hence a triple phase study is designed such that the typical imaging characteristics like peripheral nodular enhancement can be visualised of CT scan to confirm a hemangioma.

Do you have any image of the lesion which you can upload for me to see?

Brief Answer:
A hemangioma grows slowly

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

We can have a look at the image tomorrow.

A hemangioma takes years grows slowly. It is possible that the liver was not evaluated during the kidney scan so you need not be scared.

A lesion is a general term for an abnormal area, it can mean any thing.
