What Does My Ultrasound Scan Test Report Indicate?

When UT Scan was done for USG, the impression states " Borderline hepatmegaly with grade 1 fatty changes". LIVER SIZE 14.8 CM. ALL AND EVERYTHING ELSE NORMAL.
What does this mean. Do I at the age of 63 YEARS need a precautionary medical treatment or change my food habits. I have been consuming alcohol for several years (35 years plus) and last 5 years have been consuming heavy doses upto 600 ml OF vODKA/wHISKY per day every day. i AM A VEGETARIAN AND VERY OCCASIONALLY TAKE OMLETS WHILE DRINKING.
Fatty liver is a reversible condition.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
You findings suggests mildly enlarged liver(hepatomegaly) with mild deposition of fat within liver cells(fatty liver).
Fatty liver may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, obesity, alcoholism, metabolic disorder, drug toxicity, tumour etc.
Hepatomegaly in your case may be due to fatty changes in liver and fatty liver may be related to alcohol intake.
You may need few more investigations like routine hemogram, random blood sugar, lipid profile, liver function test, urine RE/ME.
Mildly enlarged liver often get reverse with treatment of underlying cause.
You may need few medicines after complete investigations.
It is good that you have changed your food habit. You should avoid saturated fat and go for brisk walk regularly.
Take lot of fruits and vegetables in your diet.
You should try to quit alcohol completely. This is most important for your health.
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
