What Does My Ultrasound Test Result Indicate?

Question: In 2013 I had an abdominal ultra sound and the report said I had sludge in my gall bladder. 2 days ago I had another ultra sound and my gall bladder was not there. The report says I have had a cholesectomy, which has not happened. Do gall bladders just disappear?

Brief Answer:
gall bladders do not disappear

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are concerned about a recent ultrasound that showed no gall bladder. The gall bladder can not just simply disappear. What may have happened is that the gall bladder may have contracted and collapsed while the ultrasound was being taken or the person who read the ultrasound missed seeing it. It is not the first time someone made a mistake. I would tell your medical provider and ask to have the ultrasound re read or repeated. It is your right to know and get the correct reading on something you purchased. You have every right to be heard and satisfied.

In summary
1. Missing gall bladder from misread ultrasound
2. Collapsed gall bladder
3. Have radiologist re-read the ultrasound
