What Does My Urinalysis Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: My urinalysis results showed 2 for erythrocytes and 25 for leukocyte esterase. I had no blood in a urinalysis done approximately 1-2 months ago but had nitrites and was given antibiotics for a UTI. I had a CT scan on abdomen on oct 11, 2016 and XXXXXXX 9, 2017 with negative results (all good I suppose). I had a renal ultrasound on January 13th but no kidney stones. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Have you done a urine culture?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I will like to know if you have done a urine culture to identify the exact germ and what antibiotics can be effective against it. This urinalysis result alone suggest an infection but the fact that you were treated about a month ago makes me wonder whether the antibiotic was right. Again treating without having certainty about this will not be a smart decision. For this reason, I suggest that you get a urine culture and these results with:

1. Tell us if there is an infection or not.
2. If there is an infection what is the germ
3. What drug is best suited to treat the germ.

I hope this is guiding enough. I hope to hear back from you on this for more insights and guidance.
