What Does My Urine Culture Report Indicate?

Question: Hi Doctor

I have taken a Urine culture report again After the medications

Medication stopped on 03/07/2017
Urine sample collected: 05/07/2017

Attached is the urine culture report.

Is Reports are normal?
Is there any other option other than circumcision surgery if it is needed.?

Hi...this is a completely normal report.

At present there is no need for circumscission.

Right now yo need not worry about tight prepuce as it is very common in this age group.

If there is any fever in future we will not start antibiotics without proper evaluation and culture.

Hi Doctor

I am worried because the opening of the genital is very tiny (just like a dot), through which only he can pee. The retraction of foreskin is not happening a bit a also.

Is this is also normal.?

Hi...I understand your concern. I remember your concern from your last question to me. I have replied that nothing else needs to be done keeping in mind this issue also.

But as you are concerned, I suggest you upload an image stretching the foreskin of his penis.

One question - when he's peeing, does the flow of the stream appear like a fountain or will the urine flow off sideways.

Some times it is sideways sometimes straight, and I didn,t got that fountain part,

Hi... what I meant by the fountain is whether the urinary stream comes up like a fountain or not. At this age all the babies will be lying down. So when the baby is facing the roof, the urinary stream should be projected upwards. This is what I wanted you to observe and tell me.

If the stream is ejected out straight upwards when the baby is passing urine, in lying down position, it is a indirect evidence that nothing needs to be done and everything is normal.

Kindly observe this next time the baby passes urine when you are at home and get back to me. Along with this information I need a photo also as requested.

The flow of the urine is like fountain (some times straight sometime upward)

The prepuce shown in the image is normal for a new born.

Hi... I understand your concern.

The image you are showing is not an independent risk factor for urinary tract infection.

Urinary tract infection recurrence cannot be predicted.

But you can do this -

1. Though he is a male baby - while washing after passing motion - wash from front to back and not vice versa. (usually this is advised in female babies and there is no oenis).

2. As much as possible - avoid using diapers - restrict diaper usage only for outing.

3. Do not start antibiotics - without doing urine culture - in suspected UTI.
