Question : I have pain in front of my left knee just below the knee cap. I can really feel it when I go up stairs or run. It occurred when I was playing basketball last Monday. Do you think it might be jumper's knee?
Brief Answer:
Follows.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it could be a simple sprain or mild injury as generally jumpers knee is an overuse injury from repetitive injury to the knee or its over use and generally does not come suddenly .
I will advise you to take adequate rest , you can use a topical analgesic gel if its required and avoid over straining of the knee joint , if the pain is more you can take an antiinflammatory like naproxen 500 mg if there is no contraindication after consulting your treating doctor.
Take care.
Dr. Shruti
