Brief Answer:
Need regular follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

In the current scenario, you have the following treatment options:

1. Observe the course of events, follow up with repeat tests after 6 weeks as sometimes the lesions may heal spontaneously.

2. Cryotherapy, conisation or the LEEP procedure. This is done if there is no change after repeat tests.

Follow up is always needed for lifetime. The possibility of developing cancer is not so high as for a high grade lesion, but there is a definite risk and this is why, strict follow up is mandatory. Low grade lesions are known for spontaneous cure in course of time.

You should use barrier methods of contraception to avoid infecting your partner.

Hope your query has been answered. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,

Is it possible that these may persist for the rest of my life without any harm ?

Brief Answer:
Periodic appraisal will decide further management.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

If repeat tests do not show any lesion, the possibility of recurrence is lower. This also applies for freedom from further lesions after any of the procedures on the cervix.

If however, repeat tests show recurrences, chances of progressive lesion are higher. With the treatment options available now-a-days, curtailment is always easier for lesions detected early. So, please do not stress; just follow up regularly without fail and take all precautions.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please contact if you need any further information. I will be glad to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
