Question : Hi, From past 1 day my wife is getting blood while passing urine and a bit of pain in lower abdomen. Don't know what to do, please suggest.

Most likely she has UTI.

Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on your statement your wife seems to have acute UTI .

Get her routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Give her broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like
Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure she drinks more water to keep urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

If problem persists after 5 days get her Ultrasound Scanning of Abdomen done to rule out presence of urinary stone .

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Also wanted to bring to your notice that, we guess the amount of blood is not that much as the color of urine is not dark red but bit light red(pink). Also, she is due for her periods in a day or 2. And now blood is coming in clots.

Pleas advice.

Thanks for follow up .

In view of the facts that her menstrual period is due within a day or two .consult qualified Gynecologist for clinical examination to confirm whether it is menstrual flow or red colored urine .

Further treatment will depend upon her clinical findings final diagnosis.

In the mean while there is no harm in taking medicines suggested in my earlier reply.
