What Does Presence Of Halo In Vision Post Cataract Surgery Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Dec 2016
Question: On 10/23/2007 I had Cataract surgery on both eyes. A few years ago I started get a halo effect in the lower left of my right eye. This was usually gray but changed colors when there was glare or light reflection. It is getting worse and in a glare from the sun, or car headlights at night, it becomes a total halo with a fog like center. Again different colors. My Ophthalmologist says he has no idea what causes this, but insists it is not a bad lens. I talked to an Optometrist who said it is a bad lens. Who is right? Reading from my right eye is difficult as the left halo blocks some of my vision. Thank you XXXX

Brief Answer:
Possible postoperative complication

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

I can certainly understand your concern.

Your symptoms are possibly related to the post operative complications of cataract surgery.

This isn't a bad lens at all.

But post operative deposition of old lens fragments on the new one.

This requires slit lamp biomicroscopic examination of the eye

Based on the results , the affected lens might be replaced with a new one.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.
