Question : In Nov. 2014, I had severe burning in the throat, swalloing pain, wound lime pain. i was under a lot of stress at the time- job and personal. It was diagnosed as acid reflux by the primary doctor. I live in the US but i got my endoscopy and ultrasound by a renouned Gastrroenterologist. No biopsy, but was told non-erosive gerd and was prescribed Panacid from
Dec to Mar-end. I stopped taking in mid Mar as an ENT doctor asked me to stop antacids if i couldanage with diet, off late my pain is ok , i am in some work related stress, more IT work, worry of the family and now burning in my throat is constant. Shoukd i go for another endoscopy though i had one on Dec 24. Is pantacid safe, can this be taken if one gets pregnant while on it. Is this burning due to anxiety or gerd. Thanks

                                    Brief Answer:
Anxiety adds to GERD.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
GERD is a common condition now a days.Anxiety will add to this and aggravate the symptoms.
I prefer Rabeprazole along with Levosulpiride tablet rather than plain Proton pump inhibitor like Pantaprazole or Rabeprazole alone.
please avoid spicy food, carbonated drinks etc.
Smoking and Alcohol will aggravate the symptoms.
I prefer you to go for another Endoscopy and exclude Duodenal or Gastric ulcer due to H.pylori infection.
I also add Syrup containing Sucralfate to my patients with similar complaints.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
