What Does Small, Rough Growths Around The Urethra Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: I have had small, rough growths around my urethra for a number of years. I was told by my sexual health nurse that they were not infectious but just a result of common changes to the vaginal tissue. I would however like to get rid of them, as although they are not visible or infectious, they can be detected by touch and cause psychological disturbance more than anything. Can they be removed?

Brief Answer:
meet gynaecologist. simple surgery will do.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX , thanks for the question and welcome to HCM.

I share your concerns as this problem is troubling you. Nowadays several patients discuss such issues and seek remedy, although these are normal changes. Your sexual health nurse is right and generally removal is not required as this growth doesn't affect your sexual activities.

However since it is troubling you psychologically, you can meet gynaecologist and discuss about their removal. Or for better outcome you can meet plastic surgeon (it will be more expensive)also after discussing with gynaecologist. Simple surgery will remove these tags. This will help you in reliving your anxiety.

Please feel free to ask follow up question. I wish you good luck and good health.
