What Does 'stranding Of Soft Tissue ' Mean?

Question: what does 'stranding of soft tissue ' mean and what does bilateral centimeter mucus retention cysts in sphenoid mean? when i hear 'cyst' i think its something that meeds to be removed? or not?

Brief Answer: not... Detailed Answer: Hi and welcome to hcm.. Unlike mucoceles, retention cysts in most cases dont need to be removed and it can be found in 30% of population on ct scan. It doesnt grow usually so it wont press surrounding tissue. Also,1cm is considered to be small one. Sof tissue stranding is sign of nonspecific inflammation or it can be normal finding too. There is probably sinusitis but it shouldnt be related to retention cyst. so you dont need to treat it by surgery but conservatively with antibiotics,analgetics and inhalators.
