What Does Swelling On Ankle When On Coumadin And Lovenox Injection Suggest?

Question: I recently was hospitalized for pulmonary emboli in my lungs, possible clot was in my leg. A CTScan showed no evidence of another clot. I'm still taking Lovanox injections, along with Coumadin trying to get dosage right. My ankle is currently swollen, with a good deal of pressure pain. Movement or touching the skin is excruciating. Is this another clot?
Brief Answer:
You might be having venous stasis.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you are having deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of leg, possibility of venous stasis is high.
Thrombosis causes poor venous return from leg.
So venous blood accumulate in leg especially around ankle.
And this excess blood can cause skin discoloration, hyperasthesia, ulcer etc.
Another possibility is cellulitis (infection of skin).
So better to consult doctor and discuss all these.
You need doppler study to rule out these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
