Question : I developed significant swelling on my left big toe knuckle. No trauma to it. Got aggravated while spilling at my desk at work. Can't wear shoes now

Hi and welcome.
First,if you are diabetic,you should se doctor and have intravenous antibiotics.
Otherwise,there is no need for urgent visit.
It may be inflammation due to shoes irritation or beginning of gout or erysipelas. At this point,you should apply cold compresses,take ibuprofen 2X400mg,rest and avoid uncomfortable shoes. if there will be spreading of redness,you should see doctor for antibiotic prescription.
