What Does The MRI Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Feb 2016
Question: Hello,

A colleague of mine had an MR scan. There is some abnormality at the back of his brain. It look like edema, but I would like to get a medical view on it. Could you take a look at the MR images I upload?

Thanks.I uploaded part of his MPRAGE images. The other two images are from the DICOMs of a T1 mapping sequence which can be processed to output the quantitative T1 values and the effective proton density.

Many thanks.

Brief Answer:
Arachnoidal cyst, edema impression probably not true.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the query here at HCM.

I have read your question and examined the MRI images too.

There is actually an arachnoidal cyst of the posterior fossa on that MRI scan.

There seems to be also a sort of around fourth ventricle, deep into cerebellum, but there is no mass effect, so, it is probably a change in the contrast used to adjust MRI images views.

The question is why was the MRI done, (symptoms) because always there's need to correlate clinical data with imaging studies findings.

Also, if you could upload MRI images as DICOM folder at Google drive for example, I can get a better option about.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Awaiting for the requested information.

Greetings.
