What Does The Absence Of Heartbeats At 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?
Question: I'm pregnant I had a scan two weeks ago that showed I was 5weeks 5 days and today I had one saying I was only 6weeks 1day the nurse said there very little growth between scans I'm back next week for another scan the nurse said if there no heartbeat she is calling it a miscarriage !! But I've had no bleeding and surely the heartbeat is not always heard this early please help

In such a case I usually prescribe my patients inj proluton depot 500 mg weekly and tab duphaston 10 mg twice daily for a week and get a repeat scan. These are of course prescription medications. So you need a prescription from your local doctor.
Many a times the heartbeat is not seen at such early gestation but in most cases it is seen by 7-8 weeks.
It is called missed abortion ONLY if the patient begins to bleed or gestational sac stops growing in size.
Your gestational sac is growing normally, just see about starting with the above medications and wait and watch till the next scan ie 1 week. all the best take care
