Question : I just had a cat scan of the abnomine and pelvec area amoung several issue's it show a Exphytic cyst, 14 mm upper pole right kidney, I suffer from really bad back pain could this be the cause of the back pain and what can i do about the cyst. Thankyou

Thanks for writing to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,

Your findings may suggest small simple cyst in upper pole of right kidney.
It is generally asymptomatic and it is most likely not related to back pain.
Small simple renal cysts generally doesn't require any treatment except follow up ultrasound.
Back pain may be due to many causes like disc prolapse,muscle spasm etc.
This need proper clinical evaluation and investigations.

You may need routine hemogram,thyroid profile,serum calcium and vitamin D level,X-ray L/S pine(AP/Lateral) etc.MRI may be advised after evaluation.
Treatment depends upon findings.
