Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Hello, my abnormal ECG states: septal infarct, Q > ms in V2, moderate right-precordial depolarization disturbance secondary to infarct, negative T in V2 and V3. I'm 31 year old female, in good shape and otherwise good physical health. Should this abnormal reading be of concern?

Brief Answer:
May or may not be significant

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I went through your ECG. In most of the cases if there is no previous history of Heart Attack then one ECG is not conclusive. In those cases fault can be at the level of placement of ECG leads or machine interpretation. Also we need to co-relate it with other findings(both physical & lab) to reach a conclusion. Negative T-wave can be due to drugs and multivitamins.
I would be in a better position to guide you if you can answer following questions for me :
1. What made you to undergo ECG?
2. Any past history of heart attack or other cardiac pathology?
3. Are you hypertensive or diabetic?
4. Since when are you taking Adderall 5 mg? It also has effects on ECG.
5. Any history of Heart attack in family?
6. Do you smoke?

If there is no previous history of cardiac pathology along with family history and no symptom then there are more chances of error. In this case i would suggest you to get another ECG done for confirmation. If it also shows same findings then you need to undergo detailed examination & further investigations(which include Stress test, cardiac enzymes, lipid profile) under the supervision of a cardiologist.

I will be looking forward for the answer to conclude the discussion in the best interest of yours.
Thank You
