Question: I feel my heart beat rises too much when I run even for 50ms or do 10 pushups. On various occasions, I have got my BP reading to be 130/100. I got ECG done and want to know how it looks?

Brief Answer:
Your ECG looks normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXX

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query and ECG. ECG looks normal. Blood pressure of 130/100 is high. Your diastolic BP is high in this. This can occur due to high cholesterol, high blood sugar and kidney problems also. So better to do a Lipid profile and blood sugar test to rule out that. Urea and creatinine test also should be done to find out whether kidneys are functioning well.

You can also go for an Echocardiography test after consulting a cardiologist to know the exact status of your heart. ECG gives very less information so Echo will be helpful to get an accurate status of your heart.

Do you have anxiety or stress?
Do you take excess coffee or smoke?

Have a low salt diet. If that is not helping then betablockers in lower doses will be helpful to decrease blood pressure and heart rate.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

Over the time, on different doctor's recommendation I have got different tests done.
I have attached reports of those, Lipid, Testosterone, fasting blood sugar, creatinine urea and thyroid.

I feel anxiety, but generally I am not a stressed person. When I feel anxious, I can feel my heartbeat rising.

I don't take coffee or smoke.

I am already on low salt diet and have never had any particular taste either for sugar or salt. I don't mind them normal, I don't mind them low.

A doctor had per scribed me betablockers which I took for a month or two. But then, I found those have negative reaction on your testosterone levels, which in my case was already low-normal. Hence I stopped.

My Lipid, testosterone and blood sugar, it seems, are not at optimal level. I want to get more active to get them into better zone, but I am unable to run and exercise due to palpitations.

Brief Answer:
Dyslipidaemia is present.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up.

I have gone through you reports. Everything is normal except having dyslipidaema. Your LDL is increased and HDL is decreased. High blood pressure level and palpitations can be due to this also.
You can take oily fish like makeral , sardines etc or take fish oil capsules if you don't consume fish. Eating flax seeds in moderation is also good. This will be helpful in increasing HDL and decreasing LDL. Take your dinner early ad make it light. Include vegetable salads and fibre rich foods for dinner. This will help to decrease your fasting sugar. Avoid push ups as it is a hard exercise. You can do brisk walking for long distance instaed.
You can also do breathing exercises for stress relaxation. Sit relaxed and take deep breaths. This will help to decrease the heart rate. If that is not helping then taking a short course of anxiolytics or low dose betablocker for short term will be helpful.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
