default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: Kindly let me know the prognosis of Mr.Ramji. His ECG showed hyperactive QRS in V3-V6. 2D echo was done which shows mild mitral valve prolapse. In the future is there any possibility of valvular heart disease/surgery. Clinically he has no signs & symptoms

Brief Answer:
There is risk in future but is very rare 1 out of 1000 patients!

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing health care magic for your query!

Have seen the ecg and echo reports of Mr XXXXXXX ji ,there is nothing apparently wrong with his ecg and echo.Slight elongation of QRS complex does not have any significance if 2d echo is normal ,as 2d echo is far superior as compared to ecg .If its left ventricular hypertrophy 2d echo is the gold standard test ,so in your case ecg has no significance as echo is normal!

Mild mitral valve prolapse is a common finding in many adults ,in 1 out of 1000 cases it progresses to moderate or severe form.As Mr XXXXXXX is 61 right now hence even it progresses it will take a decade or two .
Hence though there is risk ,but its insignificant in your case.

Advised
2d echo every year.
Follow up with cardiologist as general physician over diagnose some times.

If you have any other doubts feel free to ask!

Thank you
