What Does The Following EKG Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: I had an EKG done and the read out said Low QRS voltage in precordial leads (qrs deflection < 1.0 mV in chest leads)
Possible right ventricular conduction delay (RR (QR) in V1/V2)
Borderline ECG

Waiting on doctor report but doing research to see if I can figure out what it means and if there is reason for concern.

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your ECG data, I would explain that low QRS voltage in precordial leads may be related to several pathological conditions as well as certain thorax geometry:

- when the distance from the cardiac muscle to the surface electrodes is increased (such as in pleural or pericardial effusion, obesity, or certain pulmonary disorders, like emphysema, etc),

- cardiac infiltrative disorders or systemic diseases, such as amyloidosis, haemochromatosis, myxedema, sarcoidosis, or also constrictive pericarditis, etc.

Possible right conduction delay may be an incomplete right bundle branch block, that may be present also in normal individuals as well.

You should know that ECG is a complementary cardiac test that may help in concluding a diagnosis when coupled with other important clinical and laboratory data, but is not enough specific to arrive to a single conclusion when alone.

It is necessary to directly review the ECG recordings in order to give a second professional opinion on the matter.

Please could you upload your ECG recording here?

In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
