Question: HI I JUST WENT TO GET A FULL CHECK UP AND BLOOD WORK DONE BECAUSE I AM GOING TO GET SURGERY DONE THEY REQUESTED TO AN TO GET TESTED FOR HIV WHEN THE RESULTS CAME BACK UNDER HIV 1/0/2 ABS-INDEX VALUE RESULTS SAYS 50 REFERENCE SAYS<1.00 ABOVE HIGH NORMAL
THAN IT ALSO SAYS HIV 1/0/2 ABS QUAL RESULTS REPEATEDLY REACTIVE AND REFERENCE
NON REACTIVE ABNORMAL (APPLIES TO NON-NUMERIC RESULTS IT ALSO SAYS
INDEX VALUE:SPECIMEN REACTIVITY RELATIVE TO THE NEGATIVE CUTOFF. DOES THAT MEAN I AM HIV POSITIVE

Sorry, that your results interpret that you are having HIV. HIV is just like any other infection. If treated properly anybody can live as long as that of an individual without HIV. It is a manageable disease. One can live decently and comfortably without much discomforts for ever if there is a good drug adherence and life style modifications suggested by your treating physician.
This High normal index value is not directly proportionate to the severity of the disease. Only a viral load and CD4 count will indicate the level of the disease.
