Question : Following an MRI and then a cat scan for lumber stenosis the results showed enlarged lymph nodes in the groin area . Following a Biopsy which initially shoed nothing after further tests on the specimen I have just XXXXXXX diagnosed with low grade lymphoma . I have no symptoms and my first visit to an oncologist is in a weeks time. I am looking for information about this kind of cancer , a prognosis potential life span and some insight. I am a young and reasonably active 70 tear old with a young family. I am a little over weight 195 pounds , high blood pressure under treatment and I am prediabetic

                                    Brief Answer:
Hello dear. The disease is slow growing
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through the details.
A low grade lymphoma is an indolent lymphoma(means it is slow growing and not very aggressive). Its treatment depends upon the stage of disease and disease behaviour (usually it is treated if it produces symptoms or some dysfunction like low platelet counts, prolong fever, loss of weight, bulky nodes, organ dysfunction etc). otherwise it is left as such if no symptoms and treated when it produces symptoms.
Prognosis is good and you will enjoy a good life span, but some words of disappointment: it is not curable.
Thanks and regards

Hello dear. Let all the the reports come
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear.
Low grade lymphoma is one of several types. (like small lymphocytic, follicular, marginal zone or mantle cell) Let the final reports come and then we will discuss again the treatment. We need definite diagnosis along with stage.
Till then relax. Till then you can ask further details.
Thanks and regards
