Question : Hello, an MRI that I had last Sat. reports a focus of prior microhemorrage identified within the left frontal lobe. I am scheduled to see an ENT dr. on Wed. Should I request an appt. with a neurologist ? thank you

Brief Answer:
Consulting the neurologist is required to assess any risk of future strokes

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
An old microhemorrhage in the frontal lobe might have been there for months. A micro hemorrhage is a small area in the brain that shows certain changes probably due to other health conditions like hypertension and diabetes. It can also be seen in normal ageing.

Though not a serious concern, it will help to consult your neurologist and know if there is risk of a stroke at your age. At the same time, any risk of heart disease also needs assessment should you have any cardiovascular risk factors which can also increase the chances of a stroke.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
