Question : Hi, Im a nurse and I currently have and MRI result showing C5/6 and C6/7 herniation. The injury was not trauma or lifting . I woke up with soreness one morning and it cont to decline. Numbness occasionally that radiates through RUE including elbow, FA, hand, fingers 1, 2 &5. I have an apt with a specialist in 4 days but the pain especially at the end of the day is almost more than I can take. ive tried heat, cold, 10s unit, chiro, massage, trigger point, restorative yoga, IBU600mg, 5/325 norco x1, valium 10mg Q HS, Im afraid to ask my PA for something stronger. I dont want to come off as a drug seeker and Im not even sure it would help a pinched nerve. I dont know if you have any other suggestions. I feel silly asking because Im sure the answer is that I need to just call my doc or wait for the specialist but Im in such pain its unreal. Im desperate.

Brief Answer:
You are having cervical spondylitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. You are having cervical spondylitis. In this condition there is neck pain with rediculopathy. It is episodic disease and I can assure you that you will be better in few days. As soon as nerve edema subsides. I have following suggestions for you.
1.Physiotherapy is best in this. You can learn intermittent cervical traction exercises with 1 kg weight and also neck muscle strengthening exercises.
2.Tablet Pregabalin M one at night time.
3.Soft cervical collar can be worn at night time.
4.If pain is severe then you can take low doses of steroids also.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
