Question : My daughter - age 21 of good health ` broke a metatarsal in her left foot at the beginning of XXXXXXX It seemed to heal ok, but she is still in severe pain. She went for another MRI on last Friday and dr left her a message that she has 2 breaks, the original one and a new one, and severe bone bruising. My daughter has been off this foot as much as possible and favoring it. She does stand a lot at work, but doesn't do sports or extreme activity. She had a low vitamin D count, so she's been on a supplement. Obviously, we are very concerned. Is there some kind of bone disease that could be causing this? Please let us know if you have any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Some further examinations may be needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern regarding to your daughter's health.

What I would recommend for her in order to try to find out a cause for her bone fracture is a bone densitometry and some laboratorical exams;

- Calcium level
-Vit D 25 OH ( you mentioned that it is done, please attach the result, you can simply upload/attach them at the reports section).
-Parathormone level
-TSH
It would be of help the result of MRI too.

It will be a pleasure to help you further after the above results.
Kind Regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
