Question: My wife is going in for a PET scan. During an xray and MRI they found a lesion on the outside of her right mid lung area. I am worried. They are going to do a biopsy soon after the PET scan. Could this be cancer?
Guess it always could be.

Brief Answer:
anything is possible

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

Your wife was recently found to have a lesion or growth in her lung. She is currently undergoing testing and a PET scan is ordered along with a biopsy. This is the usual progression and steps needed to determine the cause of the lesion. As you stated is this possibly cancer and the answer is yes. I would be prepared for this diagnosis but also make you aware there are several treatments now that are very successful in the treatment for cancer. So before we make any conclusion wait until you know for sure then move on from there.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again with your health care concerns and questions
