Question : We had done the TORCH taste for our baby boy of 2 months and 20 days. In the test report rubella IGG is detected 14.62, Cytomegalovirus IGG is 2.01 and Herpes Simplex Virus-1 IgG is 1.88. Kindly tell me the observations about above data. So that we can follow proper precautions and take proper Care Of our baby.
Brief Answer:
Normal report
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
A positive IgM result in a newborn indicates high likelihood of infection with that organism.
IgM antibodies produced in the mother cannot cross the placenta, so presence of this type of antibody strongly suggests an active infection in the infant.
In your baby only IgG is detected and no IgM.
Presence of IgG and absence of IgM antibody in an infant may reflect passive transfer of maternal antibody to the baby and does not indicate active infection in that infant.
No need to worry.
The report is negative for all infections in the baby.
