Could indicate juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or Streptococcal sore throat
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Antistreptolysin O (ASO) titer is a blood test to measure antibodies against streptolysin O, a substance produced by group A streptococcus bacteria. Incidentally some proteins produced by group A streptococcus resemble certain bodily proteins and as the body produces antibodies Antistreptolysin O (ASO) in response to streptolysin O, these crossreact with those bodily proteins and precipitate certain diseases like juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. ASO postivity in your child could be indicative of such a condition. The condition needs to be evaluated further.
Let me know if I could help further.
