Question: I am 55 year old female. Lab results show AST 54, ALT 84, Ferritin Serum 225 and vitamin d at 28.5. My MD wants to run levels again in 2 months. I'm concerned. Should I see specialist? If so, what type? What type of testing to diagnose any problems?

Brief Answer:
Run levels in 2months before making conclusions!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these findings and al the inconveniences this must have caused you. These findings are sitting right on the limit of good and not too good and make it very difficult for any physician to conclude right away. In most cases, they are transient changes and rapidly return to normal within weeks, controlling would provide the opportunity to tell whether they warrant further check up or not. If they remain high, then you would follow up with a specialist at that time. Otherwise, there is no need in rushing to a specialist right now.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications. Thanks for trusting using with your health questions today!
