What Does The Following Ovaries Ultrasound Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 30 Jul 2016
Question: Had Ultrasound of ovaries on 7/1/16 and from last years it changed dramatically last year showed normal ovaries now showed complex cyst on both ovaries, whatever thick septation is with ovaries, and left ovary size is 3.9cm right ovary size is 3.5cm. Saw GYN on 7/5/16 they thought I had cancer but my CA-125 test was normal. They did a LDH blood test it came back as 162 whereas a few days earlier on 6/29/16 my LDH was 102 should this increase in LDH be of concerned and if so what type of concern. They recommend surgery for me the surgeon was talking about Laproscopic procedure to either remove just cysts, remove ovaries or there was a third thing. What type of surgery do you think will be done and in 2011 had hysterectomy to remove uterus. And for the various surgical types how long does the surgery take and do you think it will be same day that I go home same day. But also if the increase in my LDH indicate anything.

Brief Answer:
The cysts need to be removed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The increase in LDH levels is not likely to be related to ovarian cysts. The complex cysts of the size you have mentioned is worrisome and needs to be surgically removed and biopsied to find the type. Ovaries and uterus are not removed with the cysts. However, some ovarian tissue may be damaged while removing the cysts.
After laparoscopic surgery, the patient is kept in hospital for 24 hours to monitor for any post - operative complications.

For my LDH blood test that I had on July 5 there is a note from result of it and was wondering what that mean for result of LDH. It says there is a LDH "shift" what does that mean if they say on my result about that there is a shift.

I had a blood test as well to since I am only 41 years old and in 2011 had hysterectomy and removed my uterus then. When I saw the GYN Doctor they had me get a Estradiol blood test my result came back as 64 of/mL. What does this result or value indicate for me since I had a hysterectomy and uterus removed in 2011.

Brief Answer:
Means ovaries are still functional.

Detailed Answer:
A blood estradiol level at 64 means your ovaries are still working normally. Your ovaries are not post menopausal.
