Question : Hello Doctor
My wife is pregnant for 35 weeks 4 days as per LMP (31/12/2014).today we did scan and the report shows as follws
Single live intrauterine gestation is seen in Cephalic presentation with the average gestational age being 34 weeks 5 days
Active fetal movements and cardiac activities are noted
Fetal heart rate measures :149 bpm
Placenta is fundal posterior and shows grade 2 maturity. There is no placenta previa.
Liquor is adequate for the term. AFI measures : 12 cm
EFW : 2492 gms
This is the content of reports
Now my wife's History
Three years back missed abortion was done
Two years back she delivered a girl baby with C section done at 36 weeks i.e 13 days before EDD due to liquid gone down.
During pregnancy since cervix lenghth was less cervix stiches done at 4th month of pregnancy.
Now my question is that my wife's mother stays in other state and my wife want to go for delivery there.
The travelling distance is around 37 hours of train journey with 4.30 hrs in sitting chair car and involves two nights in train.
Is it safe to travel at this stage by train considering it will be 35 weeks completed as per scan and 36 weeks as per LMP ?

Brief Answer:
she can travel
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your health concerns and anxiety related to the same.
Yes she can travel provided she takes care of certain things like -
- visit her gynecologist a day prior to scheduled departure to see if everything is fine
- get her a lower XXXXXXX near to washroom.
- she should lie down on the XXXXXXX for as long time as possible (get a 2-tier reservation)
- carry all her antenatal documents along and all medicines she is taking.
A XXXXXXX lady should company her all the journey if possible.
Rest don't worry it is unlikely for her start labor as of now bit don't delay the trip and get it as soon as possible.
Take care

In case if any complication happens during journey what should I do and how long there wont be any risk till we reach some nearby station since our Gyn has said that she can not have normal delivery only C sect to be done
Brief Answer:
At least 3-4 hours
Detailed Answer:
Most probably there will not be any problem in case she travels back in coming week.
But in case there occurs labor pains or leakage of fluid then also she will have at least 3-4 hours to stop at some station for management.
At the same time get a through examination from her gynecologist a day prior to journey so that she can advise you the precise safety in coming days of journey.
