Question: I just got the results of a microscopic urineanalysis with u-rbc value of 11-25.At time of testing no UTI present.I take 200mg of aspirin daily due to FMH heart disease,.Doctors nurse said mu u-rbc value is "not a cause for concern".I am a 51 year old male all other values in blood panel and urineanalysis are normal.
Should I be concerned about u-rbc values?-Ken

Brief Answer:
Rule out by any cost where the blood in urine is coming from

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

These are my recommendations:

-- Repeat the urine analysis. Those are small values of RBCs in the urine, but not normal. The dipstick its very sensitive to showing RBCs, so can be false positive.

-- If still positive, then consider a kidney ultrasound. Next diagnoses to rule out in your age are kidney stones, which may give blood in the urine.

-- Another important thing to rule out is any tumor of urinary bladder. So make sure to rule out this as well...or at least until you know the cause of it.

There is no blood in normal urine, so it should come from somewhere.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Regards, Dr.Papaqako
