Posted on Mon, 16 Mar 2015
Question: I am wearing a 30 day heart monitor, so far so good according to my doctor, iwas sent for an ultrasound on my gallbladder and received a letter that says my ultrasound found some small cysts on my liver and kidney, but no gall stones, it also says Great News! No gall stones.. Now I'm concerned about these small cysts they have found. I am 57 year old female ..could I get your opinion on theses cysts...should I have more tests to find out what these cysts are?..

Brief Answer:
Small cysts simply need to be monitored!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these cysts and all the disturbing thoughts this has caused you. Cysts in both the kidney and the liver could raise the possibility of a genetic condition called polycystic kidney disease. However, the size is not really alarming and calls for nothing more than monitoring at this time. If the cysts become bigger, then and only then would we be probing in greater details on what the exact cause and consequences on the body are. For now, be calm and only follow up on this in future.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
