Question : I have bright red blood in bowels for almost 2 months now and finally have appointment in two weeks to see specialist. My blood test came back normal from PA I have been seeing. Brief Answer:
Benign causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
I presume the last colonoscopy was normal.
So malignancy as a cause of bleeding is less likely.
The possible causes are hemorrhoids, colitis, diverticulosis, polyps etc.
You may need another colonoscopy.
Since you are hep C positive, you need to see whether you have chronic liver disease. You need to check your coagulation profile also.
You need to check your hemoglobin also. Increased amount of bleeding may cause a drop in hemoglobin.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
