Question : I have been told by my cardiologist that they found a node on my thyroid during an ultrasound.
Brief Answer:
Thyroid nodule
Detailed Answer:
This is not uncommon at all. Such lump(s) on the thyroid are incidentally discovered on ultrasound / other tests like neck CT etc done for other reasons.
The majority of these ie 95% are benign. However a thorough evaluation is necessary. Endocrinologists are best qualified to deal with thyroid related matters. A comprehensive assessment is in order, which includes a detailed physical examination, in addition to blood tests such as TSH, and a thyroid-dedicated neck ultrasound.
