What Does The Ultrasound At 19 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?

Question: Hello Doctor,
Following observed in my (30 years old) 19 week of TIFFA scaning: Presentation Cephalic, Placenta-Anterior, G-0 Lower edge is totally covering the internal OS. Other observations are fine and baby gorwth is normal as per 19 week.
Kindly explain the meaning of above medical terms. What will be possible complication and what are things I have to take care.
Further, based on above mentioned observation I have been advised by doctor to take Proluton Depot (500mg) in 15 days interval. Unfortunately, the nurse gave me 1000mg. I am totally worried about that. Will it make any complication to my baby and me.
Based on that 1000mg injection doctor asked me to stop Gestin 5mg.
Further, I am taking ecosprin 75, Ducofer-D3 and shelcal.
I had earlier 3 missed abortion (each happened before 6 week of pregnancy) and I am totally worry about my above mentioned situation.
Please provide your valuable suggestion.

I understand your concern..

The report is normal except that the placenta is low lying covering the os.. So you are likely to have bleeding.. You should take rest.. No intercourse or heavy work.. Bed rest is prefferred..

Yes, proluton is progesterone injection.. Since it was given in high dose skip the usual progesterone tablet for a week.. The rest of the tablets can be continued.. This injection wont harm your pregnancy.. Dont worry..

Dear Doctor,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have few more doubts, kindly please clarify.
1) "Presentation Cephalic"; is it normal. Otherwise, what kind of precaution I have to take.
2) If bleeding happen, will it harm the baby and mother?
3) Will there any chance to move Placenta to normal position?
4) How often I will have to monitor the position of Placenta through Scan?
5) Yesterday blood test shows that my Hemoglobin level is 10.02? I am alreday taking Docofer-D3 during last 20 days.?

Thanks for writing..

1) Presentation cephalic means head is at the lower portion of uterus which is normal.. But the lie will change till 30 weeks.. Only after 30 weeks it can be confirmed whether head or breach is in the lower pole.. So no precaution needed..

2)If there is minimal bleeding, no problem.. Bed rest and progesterone supplement will be sufficient.. Only heavy bleeding can harm your pregnancy..

3) Yes, placenta is likely to move up as the pregnancy progresses..

4) You can get a scan at 28 weeks to see for placental position and fetal well being.. If placenta has gone up, you can get the next scan by 32 weeks..

5) Continue iron tablets twice daily after food.. It will take nearly 2-3 months for Hb to rise.. Hb 10 is ok but you need to increase it..

Thank you for your kind information. One last question.
At present I am in XXXXXXX I would like to go to my home town (kerala) as soon as possible by air (train it may take 24 hr; I do not want take that risk.) Is it safe? Would you recommend that at this stage?

Travelling at this time with low lying placenta is not recommended.. After 1 month get scan repeated to see for placental position.. If placenta has gone up, you can travel by flight or train..
