Question : I do blood test regularly based on the doctor’s advice, for 1. LIPID profile 2. Sugar 3. LFT 4. Kidney I have been doing this yearly since 2007 and the observations are: 1. Triglyceride levels were high between 200 to 380 mg/dl all the time 2. Fasting blood sugars and post-meal sugar levels were year by year, raising by 10 points, but under the limits (100 mg/dl and 140 dl/mg). 3. All other tests were normal including LFT and Kidney When I retested last week, I noticed that the Triglyceride level dropped to 75 mg/dl (this could be due to having lemon every day?) [Question] Should I continue having pills for Triglyceride? The sugar levels crossed the recommended levels Fasting blood is 106 mg/dl Post-meal is 156 mg/dl [Question] Should I worry about this new level? I don’t have a family history of sugar or diabetes. Can continue with the tablets I have now?

Brief Answer: No need to worry about Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for your queries. As your trigylceride level now falls to 75 mg/dl, atorlip F should no longer be used. Both the fasting and post-meal value of blood sugar are in the impaired glucose tolerance limit, not XXXXXXX type 2 diabetes mellitus for which you don't have to take anti-diabetic medication. What you have to do is to go through daily exercise at least 1/2 hour per day, diet control, maintaining a diet chart and life style modification and have a look on lipid profile and fasting and post-meal blood sugar 3 monthly and treatment will be directed on the subsequent values. Right now you don't need to worry much. It is nothing serious. You can continue the other anti-hypertensive medications and dosing to be modified as per control of hypertension. If you have further queries you may write me back. Good day, Regards Dr Arnab Maji
