What Does This BP Reading Of 136/100 Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: I have epilepsy. Family history of stroke & heart disease. I am 61. I have lost 130lb (gastric by-pass 2yrs ago) and my PC took me off BP meds and statins @ 6mos ago. My BP seems a little up & down. This AM is 136/100 pulse 80. I have, from time to time, throbbing in my right ear. I loose my balance frequently, due to the epilepsy, I guess. I was checking my symptoms to get a little clarity. Talking with my Dr. - he doesn't seem concerned. Saw my neurologist last week and he didn't say much either. Am I overly concerned?

Brief Answer:
Following advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

My opinion is that you are currently overly concerned about your BP. Currently BP is at the upper border of the norm and the only recommendations are a healthy lifestyle and diet.

Your symptoms are more likely related to epileptic episodes and you should continue following up with your neurologist.

If the BP increase further than you should restart anti hypertensive therapy.

Wish you health!
